New Media - is it the new black ?

Ok as New Media is slowly creeping into our lifes and you can pin point your nearest pizza parlour from your mobile while at the same time guiding russian satellites, what does everything of the new channels ?

Personally im looking forward to all these renegade TV stations that are going to start up over the web, the thought that anyone with a camera , a capture card and a broadband connection could become there own Mini Greg Dyke, quite cool

yep. sometimes i'm so pleased that i came off the unpaid london film-making scene to make a small fortune from my knowledge of computer networking. now i know how to broadcast my films on demand.

shame that broadband aint around here in the sticks yet or i'd have set my server up long ago.

Definatley some interesting things are going to be going on in the future. I expect that a lot of cheap companies will start up, and then a few will survive and be actually quite interesting, maybe a little like pirate radio in the 60/70's
The web has a long way to go yet though to compete with TV.
To be honest with you I think people will always return to the cinema though (be it to watch a digital movie or an IMAX movie), and the small screen will never replace the big movies.
I just hope someone comes up with something really original soon.
I think that internet movies will almost certainly remain short and quirky odd ball stuff, or trailers for the big films.
Web magazines will sprout up (are sprouting up already) edited by a few people with a DV camera, so a new short film each week. These already exsist.
All sounds like a Bill Burroughs Horror story or William Gibson nightmare.

Reckon the big explosion will come once the fringe and niche markets are well established. be this cool underground culture then BOOM before you know it
